eForm Question Types
Each eForm is made up of three parts: sections, questions, and answers.
Sections: groupings of questions within the form.
Questions: the individual items answers are associated with.
Answers: the responses provided for each question.
Sections
Sections let you group related questions together.
Every eForm must have at least 1 section.
Every section must have at least 1 question.
Each section has:
Section heading: the title of the section.
Section detail: optional instructions or context for that group of questions.
Questions
Questions are made up of a title, an optional description, a question type, and settings (required, client access, sensitive, conditionals, and more).
Question title: the main heading of the question.
Question description (optional): extra context or instructions for the person answering.
Question types
When you add a question, choose a type from Choose Question Type. Available types:
Text responses
Short Answer - single-line text (names, titles, short values).
Paragraph - multi-line text (comments, descriptions, longer notes).
Email - email address with validation.
Phone - phone number input.
Website - URL / website with validation.
Selection
Multiple Choice - pick from options you define (for example Yes / No, preferences, ratings). Turn on Allow multiple selections if the client should be able to choose more than one option.
Special inputs
Date - date picker (birth date, appointment date, and similar).
Number - numeric input only (age, quantity, amount).
File Upload - the answer is a file attachment (documents, ID scans, photos).
Signature - draw a signature in the browser (agreements, acknowledgements).
Automated Identity Verification - starts a paid identity / AML verification flow. Your practice selects one verification type on the question:
ID Verification Only - document check with biometric facial matching.
ID + Basic AML - ID verification plus basic AML / PEP screening.
ID + Extensive AML - ID verification plus more extensive AML / PEP / risk screening.
There is no separate Yes / No, address, ABN, or TFN question type. Use Multiple Choice for Yes / No, and use Short Answer (or similar) with Auto-fill answer when you want client or practice data such as ABN / TFN / address filled automatically. For tax file numbers and other identifiers the client should not see again after save, also turn on Sensitive (tax file number questions are treated as sensitive automatically).
Client access
In Question settings, use Client access to control who can see and edit the question:
Client editable (default) - the client sees the question and can answer it.
View only (client) - the client can see the answer but cannot edit it. Staff complete the value before send or in review. The question shows a View only badge.
Internal only (staff) - hidden from the client form. Staff complete it in preview or after submission. The question shows an Internal badge.
Required still applies with View only / Internal:
Required + Client editable: the client must answer before submit.
Required + View only or Internal only: staff must complete the field (it is not something the client can fill).
Internal-only questions cannot be used as the controlling (parent) question for conditional logic.
Other common question settings
Required - marks the question as mandatory for whoever is expected to complete it (see Client access above).
Allow multiple selections - Multiple Choice only. Lets the respondent select more than one option.
Allow document upload - optional extra file attachment on types that are not already a File Upload question. For File Upload questions, the file itself is the answer.
Share documents with client - attach practice files the client can download while answering that question.
Sensitive - the client can enter the answer, but after it is saved they only see a masked value if they reopen the form. Staff still see the full value when reviewing. Available on Short Answer, Paragraph, Email, Phone, Website, Date, and Number. See Sensitive eForm questions.
Auto-fill answer - prefill from practice, client, or sender data (merge fields). Not available for File Upload, Signature, or Automated Identity Verification.
Conditional - show or hide the question based on an earlier answer in the same section.
Conditional questions
A conditional question is only shown when another question's answer meets criteria you set.
Important rules:
A conditional question can only depend on a question within the same section.
It must depend on a question that appears above it.
The first question in a section cannot be conditional.
The second question can only depend on question 1; later questions can depend on any earlier question in that section.
The parent question cannot be Internal only (staff).
Condition types
Available operators depend on the parent question type. Common options include:
Equals / Does not equal
Contains / Does not contain (text-style questions)
Greater than / Less than (Number)
Is empty / Is not empty
If the parent is a Multiple Choice question, the value selector shows the available options.
Sensitive questions
Use Sensitive for values such as tax file numbers or bank details. The real answer is stored. The client sees a masked value if they reopen the form, and can choose Update this answer to replace it. Your practice still sees the full answer in review, CSV, and PDF. Full steps and masking rules: Sensitive eForm questions.
