Use Type ID Verification Only when you want a public link that starts a standalone identity verification request, without onboarding or a proposal.
When to use this type
Choose this when you need someone to complete ID verification (and optional upfront billing) from a shared URL, for example from your website or an email. It does not create a full onboarding or send a proposal.
To require ID verification as part of onboarding or a proposal, use those link types and turn on Require ID Verification there. For sending a verification from inside OnboardMe, see Send a standalone ID Verification (with optional AML Check).
Before you start
Confirm which identity verification method your practice uses. See ID Verification in OnboardMe.
If Send immediately is on, your wallet must have enough funds for the selected method.
If you will bill the client upfront, have a Template Bill ready under Templates / Template Bills.
Create the link
Go to Templates, then open External Links.
Click New Link.
Enter a Name your team will recognise (for example "Website ID check").
Set Type to ID Verification Only.
Choose a Requestor.
Decide whether to Send immediately.
Leave Disable link off so the link stays active.
Send immediately
On: as soon as the person submits their details, OnboardMe sends the ID verification request. This needs wallet funds for the selected verification method.
Off: the submission is held for internal review. Choose a Notify employee so someone is emailed when a new submission is waiting. Send the request yourself after you have confirmed wallet funds if needed.
If your wallet balance is too low, Send immediately is disabled until you top up in Settings / Account, or you turn Send immediately off and send manually later.
ID Verification Settings
Open the ID Verification Settings accordion.
Select a Verification Method (required).
Optionally turn on Bill client upfront and select a Template Bill. The client must pay from that template before they can complete identity verification.
Email Template
Open Email Template to customise the email sent when someone uses the link. Only ID Verification templates are listed. Custom content must include [Link] or a hyperlink, or OnboardMe uses the default ID verification invitation template. See Customise email templates.
Save and share
Click Save. OnboardMe generates the public URL.
Copy the link from the table with Copy, or open the link and copy Public link.
Add the URL to your website or send it to the person. They do not need to log in.
What the client sees
The public page uses your practice branding and asks them to enter details to begin ID verification. They provide first name, last name, email, and mobile, confirm consent, then submit.
If Send immediately is on, they are told the ID verification request has started and to check their email. If it is off, they are told their details have been submitted and you will be in contact shortly.
After a successful submit, that device generally cannot submit the same link again.
