Customer Due Diligence (CDD) checklists are the templates behind every case. OnboardMe supplies a standard checklist for each client type. You can use them as they are, change the wording to match your AML program, add your own questions, and set your own risk thresholds.
Why customise your checklists
Match your AML program. Use your own wording and add the questions your program requires.
Control what clients are asked. Decide which questions go on the client information request.
Set your own risk appetite. Adjust the score at which a client becomes medium or high risk.

Standard checklists
OnboardMe supplies standard checklists for Australia, New Zealand, the UK and South Africa, for:
all entity types
individuals or sole traders
companies, partnerships or associations
trusts
When you create a case, OnboardMe chooses the checklist that applies to the client's type, falling back to the one for all entity types.
You'll only see the standard checklists for your own country, and each is named for it, for example "CDD/KYC - Trust - Australia". The checklists have the same sections in every country. Guidance such as which company register to use (ASIC, the Companies Office, Companies House or CIPC) is tailored to your country.
Tip: Some wording on cases uses Australian terms, such as "designated service" and "AML/CTF". If your business is in New Zealand, the UK or South Africa, you can save a copy of the standard checklist and reword its questions and help text to match your local rules and your AML program. Some labels on the case screen, such as section headings, can't be changed. See CDD by country.
Edit a checklist
Opening a checklist starts a step-by-step editor. Click any step to jump to it.
1. Basics
Template name. Fixed for standard checklists.
Applies to: All entity types, Individual or sole trader, Company, partnership or association, Trust, or General.
Archived: hides the checklist when starting a new case.
Note: Saving a standard checklist creates a copy for your business. The OnboardMe original stays unchanged, and your copy replaces it for your cases. Click Restore original at any time to remove your copy and go back to the standard.
2. Sections
The standard workflow has sections A to H. You can rename them and add an introduction, but they can't be removed. Hover between sections and click Add section here to add your own, and drag sections to reorder them.
Tip: Adding custom sections changes how the case is laid out. If you just need extra questions, add them to an existing section instead.
3. Client questions
Questions here are shown on the client information request. The client's answers save back into the case.
4. Team questions
Questions here are for your team only and are never sent to the client.
Click Add question on either step and fill in:
Field | What it does |
|---|---|
Question | The question wording |
Answer type | Short answer, Long answer, Multiple choice, Yes / No, List of people, Sanctions / PEP checks, File uploads or Checklist of Yes/No items |
Required | Marks the question as required |
Help text | Optional guidance shown under the question |
For Multiple choice and Checklist of Yes/No items, add your Choices and give each a risk level: Low risk, Medium risk or High risk.
Standard questions can be reworded, but not removed. Drag the grip to reorder questions.
5. Risk scoring
Set the score at which a case becomes medium risk and high risk. The defaults are 5 and 10.
The scoring method is fixed so it's consistent across your business. The suggested risk is the higher of the highest risk factor selected and the weighted score. Points come from each answer's risk level: low 1, medium 2, high 3.
The high threshold must be equal to or higher than the medium threshold, and the risk assessment section must include at least one risk-rated question.
6. Review
Check the summary and click Save and close.
Create, duplicate or delete a checklist
New checklist creates a checklist with the full A to H workflow for you to build on.
Duplicate copies a checklist as a new custom checklist named "(Copy)".
Delete checklist permanently deletes one of your custom checklists. Existing cases are kept.
What happens to existing cases
Draft cases using the checklist are updated with your changes when you save.
Other cases show Checklist template has changed and let the team choose Keep current checklist or Switch to current checklist.
Cases where an information request has already been sent keep their questions.
