Integration logs (audit trail)

Review activity between OnboardMe and your connected integrations. Integration logs help you see what OnboardMe sent to a provider, what came back, and whether each call succeeded or failed.

What integration logs are for

When OnboardMe talks to a connected system (for example to sync clients, upload documents, create jobs, or process payments), those calls can be recorded in an audit log. Use this area when you need to:

  • Confirm a sync or API action actually ran

  • See why an integration step failed

  • Share request and response details with your practice or OnboardMe support

  • Check timing (how long a call took) and the HTTP result

Each log entry is one integration call. The list view shows when it happened, which integration was involved, what activity ran, and whether it succeeded. Open a row to see the full request and response.

Before you start

  • You must be signed in as a practice Owner or Admin.

  • At least one integration should be connected if you expect to see activity, though the log can be empty until calls are made.

How to open integration logs

  1. Go to Settings and open Integrations.

  2. On the Integrations page, select Integration logs in the toolbar (alongside External API Access and Frequently asked questions).

  3. The Integration logs window opens with your practice's recent calls.

Understanding the list

The log table shows the most recent calls first. Columns include:

  • Date & time - when the call was recorded (your local timezone)

  • Integration - which connected system was involved

  • Activity - a short description of what OnboardMe was doing (for example fetch clients, sync organisation, create document)

  • Result - Succeeded or Failed

  • Took - how long the call took (shown on larger screens)

  • View details (eye icon) - open the full record

The list shows up to 50 rows per page. Use Previous and Next to move between pages, or Refresh to reload the latest entries.

Filter the log

Use the filters above the table to narrow results:

  • Integration - All integrations, or a specific provider such as Xero Practice Manager, Xero Ledger, FYI, Annature, Karbon, GreatSoft / MYOB, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, BGL, Stripe, Pinch, or Apxium

  • Result - All results, Succeeded only, or Failed only

If nothing matches, you will see No integration calls found for these filters. Widen the filters or refresh after new activity.

Outgoing calls and responses

Integration logs capture traffic between OnboardMe and your connected providers during normal integration work. For each call you can review:

  • What we sent - data OnboardMe included in the outgoing request (may be empty for simple lookups)

  • What came back - the provider's reply, which is especially useful when diagnosing failures

Together, these show the full round trip: what left OnboardMe, and what the integration returned.

Examples of logged activity include client syncs, user or contact fetches, document uploads, job or work-item actions, authentication steps, and payment-related calls for connected billing providers.

Activity details

Click the eye icon on any row to open Activity details. This view includes:

  • Result - Succeeded or Failed, plus an HTTP status label when available (for example OK, Not authorised, Rate limited, Server error)

  • Took - call duration

  • Integration and Activity - provider and operation

  • Date & time - precise timestamp

  • What went wrong - error summary when the call failed

  • Where we called - HTTP method and URL OnboardMe contacted at the provider

  • Reference - correlation ID when present, to tie related calls together

  • What we sent and What came back - formatted request and response bodies when recorded

Request and response bodies may be truncated for very large payloads. Some non-text responses are omitted from the log for readability.

How long logs are kept

Integration logs in this screen show recent activity. Older entries are archived automatically and are no longer listed here. If you need help with an issue from longer ago, contact OnboardMe support with the date, integration name, and any reference ID from the detail view.

What integration logs are not

  • Client History (on a client record) - field-level changes to client details, not HTTP API traffic

  • Onboarding History - recipient steps during client onboarding

  • External API Access - API keys and webhooks your practice uses to call OnboardMe's API (configured on the same Integrations page, but separate from this audit log)

Tips for troubleshooting

  • Filter by Failed to find problem calls quickly.

  • Check What went wrong and the HTTP status in Activity details first.

  • Compare What we sent and What came back when a sync partially works or returns an unexpected error.

  • Note the Date & time and Reference when raising a support ticket.

  • Use Refresh after retrying a sync or reconnecting an integration.

  • Settings ? Integrations (connect and manage providers)

  • Client update history (Activity tab on a client record)

  • Integration setup articles for Xero Practice Manager, Xero Ledger, FYI, Annature, and other providers
