Bills & Payments now opens on a Dashboard tab: a single place to see what you are owed, what is coming due, and jump straight into bills or payments—without opening the full tables first.
What’s new
Dashboard is the default view
When you open Bills & Payments, the Dashboard tab is selected first. Bills, Payments, and other tabs work as before; the dashboard is an overview layer on top.
The page header now reads “Billing overview, ageing, and payments” to reflect the wider scope.
At-a-glance summary cards
Four cards across the top:
Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
Total outstanding | Practice-wide unpaid total (admins) or an estimate from your current unpaid bills filter (other users) |
Recent unpaid bills | Count of unpaid bills in the same date range as the Bills tab |
Manage bills | Shortcut to the Bills tab |
Payments | Shortcut to the Payments tab |
Amounts use your practice currency (AUD, NZD, GBP, ZAR, etc.).
Debtors ageing (Practice Owner & Admin)
Owners and Admins get a Debtors ageing section based on unpaid invoices across the practice:
Buckets — Current, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, and 120+ days overdue (amount and invoice count per bucket)
Bar chart — Visual breakdown of outstanding by ageing band (colour-coded: current vs overdue)
Largest balances by client — Top clients by total outstanding
As at date on live data
If there is not enough live data yet, OnboardMe shows sample data so you can see how the report will look once unpaid bills exist.
Projected revenue (Practice Owner & Admin)
Also for Owner and Admin, the same Projected revenue insight used on the main practice dashboard is available here, scoped to billing:
Already billed — Bills created in OnboardMe with a due date in the range
To be billed — Recurring and scheduled amounts not yet billed, by due date
Total tax and Grand total for the range
Line chart — Already billed, to be billed, and total over time
Change the period with This month, Next month, This quarter, or a custom due date range. Sample preview appears when there is no live data in the range.
Recent unpaid bills (all users)
A scrollable Recent unpaid bills table lists the same unpaid bills as the Bills tab for your default date range (loaded once and shared with the dashboard):
Client, bill number, bill date, total, amount paid
View all bills opens the full Bills tab for search, filters, PDF, sync, and edit
On the dashboard, search and date filters are hidden so the overview stays clean; use Bills or Payments when you need full filtering.
Before vs after
Before | After |
|---|---|
Landed directly on the Bills table | Dashboard tab opens first with KPIs and charts |
Outstanding totals only visible by scanning bills | Total outstanding and recent unpaid count on one screen |
No ageing view in Bills & Payments | Debtors ageing chart and buckets (Owner/Admin) |
Projected revenue only on the main dashboard | Projected revenue on Bills & Payments too (Owner/Admin) |
Separate mental model for “overview” vs “work” | Summary on Dashboard; detail work on Bills / Payments |
Where to find it
Open Bills & Payments from the main menu → Dashboard tab (first tab).
Debtors ageing and Projected revenue — visible to Practice Owner and Admin only
Recent unpaid bills and summary cards — all users with access to Bills & Payments
Use Manage bills / View all bills or the Bills tab for full list actions; use Payments for payment history and detail.
