# Lead history on clients

When a lead becomes a client, their lead information doesn't disappear. Open the
client and you can see how the lead ended up and every stage it went through.

Why it helps

 * See where a client came from and who brought them in.

 * Look back at how long they took to sign and what happened along the way.

 * Nothing is lost when a lead turns into a client.

VIEW A CLIENT'S LEAD HISTORY

 1. Open the client.

 2. Go to Notes and Documents.

 3. Click Lead history.

You'll see:

Item

What it shows

Stage badge

Where the lead ended up, for example Won.

Source

Where the lead came from.

Value

The lead's value.

Owner

Who looked after the lead.

Referred by

The person or partner who referred them.

Closed

When the lead was won or lost.

Lost reason

Why the lead was lost, if it was.

Stage history

Every stage change, with proposal links for moves made by a proposal.

If the client wasn't added as a lead first, the tab says No lead history.

> Tip: The lead history only loads when you click the tab, so opening a client
> stays quick.

ACTIVITY IS STILL THERE TOO

Activity & documents is the other tab in Notes and Documents. It shows the
client's full timeline, including the calls, meetings, emails, notes and tasks
logged while they were a lead. See Log activity and tasks
