# How your client signs

This article walks through what your client sees when you send them a signing
pack from the Signing page, and the sign-in settings that keep it secure.

Why it helps

 * Know exactly what your client will see, so you can help them if they get
   stuck.

 * Clients don't need an account or an app, just the link and their email or
   phone.

 * Every sign-in and signature is recorded on the pack's audit trail.

THE INVITATION

Each person gets one email (and/or text) for the whole pack, with a link to open
it:

 * Signers get your Sign Form Request email, or the version you edited when
   sending.

 * Viewers get an email asking them to review the documents. They don't need to
   sign.

 * Members of your team who sign get an email with a link to the pack in
   OnboardMe.

 * People copied in get nothing until everyone has signed.

Replies to the email go to the person who sent the pack.

SIGNING IN

The link opens a page with your logo, showing who sent the documents and which
company they're for.

 * With Link, then a code, opening the link within 60 minutes of it being sent
   takes them straight in.

 * Otherwise they click Email me a code (or Text me a code) and enter the
   6-digit code they receive.

 * A code works once and expires after 10 minutes. After 5 wrong codes they need
to ask for a new one.

 * A link someone copied and shared always asks for a code.

By asking for a code, the client agrees to do business electronically with you
and accepts the electronic signature disclosure.

Once they're in, they see the pack's name and its documents. If the pack has
several documents, they sign them all together.

REVIEWING AND SIGNING

 1. The client clicks Review and sign. The documents open with your business's
    details already filled in.

 2. The bar at the top shows who they're signing as and how much is left. The
button on the right (Start, then Next: Sign here, Next: Choose one and so
on) takes them to each place they need to act. Each place is marked on the
page, for example Fill in, Choose one, Tick, Initial here or Sign here, and
    turns green when it's done.

 3. On ASIC forms they tick whether they're signing as Director or Company
    secretary.

 4. They click Sign here. In Add your signature they check their name and email
(click Edit to correct anything; corrections are recorded on the audit
    trail) and draw their signature.

 5. They tick the declaration, for example that they agree to sign
electronically and are a current officeholder, and click Apply signature.

> Tip: On a computer without a touchscreen, the client can click Use my phone
> and scan the QR code. They draw their signature on their phone and tap Send,
> and it appears on their computer straight away. The code works once and
> expires after 10 minutes.

 6. Their signature is added to every place it's needed in the pack. They check
the documents and click Finish and sign (Finish and sign all 2 for a pack of
    two documents).

They then see a confirmation that they've signed and can close the page.

> Note: If the pack signs one after another and it isn't their turn yet, they're
> told who they're waiting for.

VIEWERS

Viewers open the documents without signing anything. They read each page, tick I
confirm I have viewed each document in this pack and click Confirm I've viewed
them.

WHEN EVERYONE HAS SIGNED

Everyone on the pack (signers, viewers and people copied in) is emailed the
signed documents and the signing certificate. You're notified too. See Signed
documents, certificates and verifying a document
[https://onboardme.help.center/article/1174].

SIGN-IN SETTINGS

Owners and admins can make every pack ask for a code.

 1. On the Signing page, click Options > Sign-in settings.

 2. Turn on Always ask for a code.

 3. Click Save.

When it's on, every pack sent from Signing asks for a code each time the link is
opened, and senders can't turn it off for a pack. They can still choose Code by
SMS for extra security.

> Tip: Code by SMS gives you two-factor sign-in: the link goes to the client's
> email and the code to their phone.
