# Customise the menu

You can choose which menu items each role in your business sees. If your team
doesn't use eForms or Signing, for example, you can hide them so the menu only
shows what people actually use.

Why it helps

 * A cleaner menu. Your team only sees the parts of OnboardMe your business
   uses.

 * Easier for new staff. Fewer options means less to learn on day one.

 * Set it once per role. Everyone with the same role gets the same menu, so you
   don't need to change it person by person.

 * No risk of locking yourself out. Templates and Settings always stay visible
   to Owners and Admins.

WHO CAN CHANGE MENU ACCESS

Owners and Admins can open the Menu access tab.

Your role

What you can change

Owner

The menu for every role, including Owner

Admin

The menu for every role except Owner

If you're an Admin, the Owner column is greyed out and a note says Only Owners
can change the Owner column.

HIDE OR SHOW MENU ITEMS

 1. Go to Settings > Users.

 2. Open the Menu access tab.

 3. Find the menu item in the Menu item column, then go across to the role's
    column.

 4. Untick the box to hide that item from everyone with the role. Tick it again
    to show it.

 5. Click Save changes.

Every box starts ticked, so nothing is hidden until you change it. If you change
your mind before saving, click Discard changes.

> Tip: The Clients, Leads & Deals, Subscriptions and Checklists rows all sit
> under Clients in the menu. If you hide all four for a role, the whole Clients
> menu disappears for that role.

WHAT YOU CAN HIDE

You can hide these menu items for any role:

 * Clients, Leads & Deals, Subscriptions and Checklists

 * Onboarding

 * Identity & AML

 * Proposals

 * eForms

 * Signing

 * Ethical Letters or Professional Clearance, if your business uses them

 * Bills & Payments

Dashboard, Templates and Settings can't be hidden. Templates and Settings are
only shown to Owners and Admins anyway.

WHAT YOUR TEAM SEES

 * When the change shows up: People see the new menu the next time they load a
   page. Anyone who already has OnboardMe open sees it after they refresh.

 * Hidden pages: If someone opens a hidden page from a bookmark or a link,
   they're taken to the Dashboard instead.

 * Your plan comes first: If your plan or business settings already hide a menu
   item, it stays hidden whatever you set here.

> Important: Menu access tidies up the menu. It doesn't block access to
> information. People with the role can still see related details elsewhere in
> OnboardMe, such as bills on a client's page. To limit what someone can do,
> give them a different role in Settings > Users.
